EnjoyWhistler.com – Whistler “Brocation” Media Trip, December 2012
Situation: In early December 2012, EnjoyWhistler.com, a boutique reservations agency based out of Vancouver, wanted to enhance their reputation for offering personalized bookings.
Problem: EnjoyWhistler.com were not considered a “top of mind” resource when booking a vacation to Whistler. The company wanted to build their profile as a boutique reservations agency for travellers looking to visit the resort.
Solution: Enjoy Whistler turned to Ki Communications to help them develop a package that would engage the media and produce story angles for travel and ski based publications across North America. Working with EnjoyWhistler.com, partners we devised a “Brocation” media fam and package that showcased the resort and the flexibility and reach of our client.
Result: We hosted eight media from; WestJet’s up! magazine, Skiing, SNOW, Chill Magazine, SBC Skier, MSN, Snowboard Canada and The Vancouver Sun. We have received coverage in four of the above and are awaiting the other four due out for the next winter season. This generated increased sales for EnjoyWhistler.com and was a step towards growing the reputation of their brand.
GoVoluntouring.com – Merger with Flight Centre, February 2012
Situation: Ki Communications has been working with GoVoluntouring since it launched in September 2012. As a connecting website for travellers looking for volunteer vacations, this site now hosts thousands of project in 100+ countries worldwide. Its growth and success did not go unnoticed and Flight Centre acquired the business in February of 2012.
Problem: GoVoluntouring was a start up company with a great product but limited budget that needed to build brand awareness.
Solution: By developing strong key messages we pitched story ideas to media throughout North America.
Result: We have helped GoVoluntouring connect with and tell its story through some of the most prominent media channels in North America including USA Today, Chatelaine, ABC News, The CBC, The Globe and Mail, Sydney Morning Herald, Huffington Post, and many more. To date GoVoluntouring has connecting over 10,000 “new” volunteers to projects in need all over the world.
Nonna Pia’s Gourmet Balsamic Reduction
Situation: Nonna Pia’s Gourmet Balsamic Reduction is a family run business in Whistler, BC.
Problem: Nonna Pias contacted Ki Communications to help them increase brand recognition.
Solution: We developed intriguing press releases and media pitches and sent samples to key media in order to spread the story of Nonna Pia’s across Canada.
Result: In a 10-month period Nonna Pia’s appeared on Shaw TV and Canada AM, as well as online and in print for publications like; Vitamin Daily, The Vancouver Sun, Readers Digest, City Palate Calgary Food Magazine, Vancouver View, The Loop, BC Living, Canoe.ca, Financial Highway, CAA magazine, and BC Business.
Nicole Bridger – Eco-Fashion Week Show, October 2012
Situation: Award-winning eco-designer Nicole Bridger was producing the opening show of Vancouver’s Eco Fashion Week.
Problem: This was the first time Nicole was throwing an event of this size and taking on the responsibility of filling the 600-person capacity Vogue Theater. In addition, Eco Fashion Week was minimally recognized beyond Vancouver.
Solution: We developed timely press releases about the overall event and specifically for Nicole. We partnered with Tourism BC to bring in four high profile media from the east coast. We also sent out media invites for the show, managed the responses and developed a VIP list.
Result: Nicole’s event was a success with 63 key fashion media attending the show. We sectured pre and post coverage for the festival in publications such as: Forbes, Canadian Living, the Postmedia Network, Georgia Straight, BC Living and Real Style Network.
