Who we are

Known in the industry for her integrity and vision, Sonya Hwang has earned a reputation for outstanding service and results. She founded Ki Communications in 2002 to build an agency centred on what good communication has always been about: sharing stories.

Sonya’s approach to communications starts with the understanding that we are all born of stories. It’s how we make sense of the world, how we connect, and how we build community.

Before launching Ki, Sonya was Director of Public Relations at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for over a decade. Since then, her client base has spanned travel and tourism, education, luxury and lifestyle, non-profit and First Nations, including Destination Canada, UBC, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Tourism Sun Peaks, Lil’wat Nation, and the Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society.

Sonya’s work is driven by a passion for protecting our environment, healthy communities, and meaningful reconciliation.
